The story of Kawelä

Kawelä was born from a blend of passion, creativity and a big dream: to create products that make everyday life and travel simpler, more beautiful and more inspiring.
I launched Kawelä at 23 , during my maternity leave, when I had just become a mother. I have always been a creative person, with a thousand ideas a minute, and I felt a deep need to build something that reflected me — a company in my image, colorful, bold and well thought out.
From the outset, my primary goal was clear: to create products that solve real problems and improve those already existing on the market . I wanted products that were useful, well-designed, durable, and beautiful—products that make life easier, both in everyday life and while traveling.
At the time, suede microfiber towels already existed, but they were designed primarily for compactness , not absorbency . Furthermore, they were only available in a few simple colors —often orange, green, or blue.
So I wanted to go further: to design extra-large , compact , sand-free , and truly absorbent pads. But above all, I wanted them to be designed by local artists , because Quebec creativity is at the heart of everything Kawelä does.
Kawelä is therefore much more than a brand of beach and travel products: it is a Quebec company born from a desire for freedom, a love for design and the courage to follow one's instinct.
I designed everything myself — the visuals, the logos, the designs — with the help of a passionate team who share the same vision. Together, we created a symbol that people wear with pride, and which now shines throughout Quebec.
I launched this adventure barely a month and a half after having my first child , and two and a half years later, my second arrived… It was a huge challenge, but also the most beautiful proof that you can achieve anything when you do things with passion.
Today, Kawelä continues to grow, create, and inspire — because behind every product lies a simple idea: to make everyday life a little sunnier, no matter the season. ☀️
